An Unwanted Souvenir

At lunch today I picked up medicine for MY DOG because he caught kennel cough while I was in Guatemala. I went back to work feeling miserable so an hour later I left work. I did not want to use my PTO for an actual illness but it was my first cold of the year so I figured I might as well go home and rest. I wasn't going to accomplish anything at work feeling that way anyway. So all afternoon and evening I took medicine and rested. So did Roscoe.

My cold came back with me from Guatemala. I was so thankful that I did not have any stomach issues while I was traveling (I have a weak stomach so this was something I worried about). Thank you, Lord, for keeping me well on the trip! A cold isn't that big of a deal, but today I thought about the source of my cold.

These kids.....

And these....

Almost all these precious kids seemed to have runny noses, coughed, and sneezed constantly. I knew there was a high chance I could catch something, but I was willing to take that risk because I wanted to love on them. I came home sick but I have health insurance, a cabinet full of medicine and an air conditioned home to rest in. These kids live in the dump. They don't really have the luxury of taking time to rest and get better. They don't have medicine. Some don't even have a roof over their heads. When I think about that for some reason all my ailments don't seem to matter anymore.

How often do we forget to thank God for our health? Thank Him for your health right now!
