Use It or Lose It

So it's almost been a year since I took the CFP exam for the last time, which means it's been a year since I had to memorize stuff or study for something. Although a part of me still really wants to pursue the CPA, the thought of taking those 11 classes and then taking 4 more exams stresses me out! But I do believe that if you aren't challenging your mind then your mind will slowly deteriorate. So, I am really glad that my church has weekly memory verses from the text we are studying because it keeps my mind challenged and memorizing scripture is very important. This week, however, I saw how long the verse(s) (Exodus 34: 6-7) were and I almost let myself take a week off. You know how sometimes a task can seem too big so you get lazy and just don't even want to do it?

Well, last night I recorded myself reciting the verses on a voice memo on my blackberry (yes, I know, I am a complete tech. nerd). Then on my way to work this morning I listened to it a few times and told myself I was going to at least memorize 1/2 of it today and within like 10 minutes I had the whole thing memorized! Isn't it crazy how we stress ourselves out over something so small sometimes?
So, I am giving you permission to call me on any or every Saturday or Sunday this year and quiz me on my verse(s), especially the long ones. The accountability will help.
